Lightning Talks No.8
“Lightning strikes every time she moves!” - WLAC Lightning Talks No.8 raises £800!
We were delighted to be back at Kite Studios for our 8th WLAC Lightning Talks on 6th November 2025. Despite a horrible clash with the BBC TV final of The Traitors, over forty supporters gathered to eat canapes, drink wine and listen to 6 local experts speak for 6 minutes each, using a maximum of 6 slides to give their short talks on fascinating subjects.
Our audience were entertained with a great variety of topics:
· Signing Science
· Two minutes of brilliance from Bach
· Why I love Edward Hopper
· Printmaking
· Children’s books
· Can TV be a force for good?
Thanks to our faithful volunteers for making delicious canapes, and to the Hartley family for serving wine and beer as conversation flowed. Thank you also to Auriol Herford, founder of Kite Studios for hosting the event, Meg Kaufman, our Chair of Trustees and Natalie Burge our Director of Operations, who updated the audience on WLAC’s work in our community, and Angela Ridgeon who emceed the evening, introducing each speaker with ‘3 things we didn’t know about you’ giving an insight into their real lives, and certainly made for exciting chatter afterwards!
A big thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Auriol for welcoming us once again and BIGGEST thanks to our speakers Ben, Eloise, Grace, Kate, Molly and Sandy for their passion and enthusiasm in sharing their expertise!
We raised over £800 to enable us to continue our vital work in Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea. If you couldn’t join us this time, no need to worry as Lightning Talks No. 9 is scheduled for Thursday 30th April, and we’d love to see you there! Watch this space.
