WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A WLAC VOLUNTEER?

West London Action for Children values the help of its volunteers and without them, we would be unable to hold events, run the office as efficiently or get things done quickly!

Who Volunteers?

Our volunteers are from a range of backgrounds and include students, retired people and working people with a few hours to spare. We ensure our volunteers are given training for the tasks we set them.

Why do they volunteer?

“I have a few hours a week to donate to a good cause”

“I wanted to improve my office skills without going back into paid employment”

“I have no work experience, and this is a great way to learn”

“It’s a chance for me to work as part of a team”

What will you do?

We are a small charity and that generally means you will at some point get involved with everything.

Administration
Help with filing, data entry, telephone answering, tidying, letter writing, donation handling and much more. Volunteers with sound computer skills are helpful but if you don’t have computer experience, there are plenty of administrative tasks to be done.

Fundraising
Help with research about many things from potential donor organisations, venues and religious institutes to the cost of hiring tables and chairs.

Events
Volunteers hold events throughout the year. If you enjoy getting involved on one off projects, then volunteering your time setting up and helping out at an event is perfect.

We also need Come and Meet Everyone (CAMEO) Stay and Play Assistants

What is CAMEO Stay and Play?

CAMEO Stay and Play service is for parents and under 5s and is one of our longest running services, enjoyed by over 20 families a week. It is run in partnership with Chelsea Methodist Church.

What does a Stay and Play Assistant do?

As a CAMEO Stay and Play assistant you will be part of a small and dedicated team of volunteers.

You will help out between 10.30 to 14.00 on Wednesdays helping CAMEO during term time while the project is running.

There is no requirement to be available for every session.

The work will involve working with the CAMEO coordinator and other CAMEO volunteers to:

  • Set up and pack away a safe and welcoming play area for children, parents and carers .

  • Interact with children, parents and carers. Assist with activities like arts & crafts and reading .

  • Help ensure that all attendees are signed-in.

  • Remain knowledgeable about WLAC and other local services.

  • Occasionally assist on trips e.g. to the museum or park.
