Curry & Ceilidh 2026

On the last day of the month, to banish those January blues, The Hammersmith Club hosted its third evening of Scottish dancing and delicious curry, all to raise funds to support the work of West London Action for Children.

A big welcome back to the wonderful Simon Wales and his band, to guide us through the dancing. The event was a sell-out and the Scottish dancing just gets better and better every year!

A huge thank you to Shweta Bhatia and her team for generously providing delicious vegetarian curries, and our generous volunteers for the homemade chocolate brownies, with whisky cream and raspberries. We had a live Scottish-themed raffle, with items including: a YO-GO Electric Buggy Ride, dinner for two with fizz at Potli Indian Market Kitchen Restaurant, tartan pyjamas, Sottish shortbread, bottles of Irn-Bru, tickets for a comedy show at the Riverside Studios and the star prize - a whole box of TUNNOCK’S chocolate tea cakes!

The event raised a whopping £5,500 (including GiftAid!) which will enable WLAC to carry out their vital work in supporting the families we serve.

A huge thank you to the industrious WLAC events committee: Sally Brunner, Isobel Leaviss, Angela Ridgeon, Shweta Bhatia, Natalie Burge, Bianca Sainty, Lewis Aubrey-Johnson, Stanley Leaviss, Annabel Newall, Clare Odgers, Sue Lee-Stern, Sandy Engelbach and Jim Leaviss! They not only rallied friends and family to fill the dance floor, but also organised, set up, baked, ran the raffle and cleared away! Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes and a big shout out to Philip Wooller for his generous sponsorship, which covered our expenses, which meant that 100% of all donations go directly to WLAC and their incredible work for disadvantaged families in our local community.

Finally, a massive thank you to everyone who came to ‘strip the willow’ and join in the fun! Without your support, WLAC would not be able to continue the vital work we do in helping to foster hope for brighter futures.
