February 2026

I am writing to you with both reflection and renewed optimism as we begin the year together. On 17th January 2026, we were honoured to gather at The Riverside Studios for a special afternoon to remember our much-loved late Chief Executive, Heather Boxer. It was a moving and uplifting occasion, bringing together friends, colleagues and volunteers to celebrate Heather’s extraordinary life and her many years of dedication to our charity.

We were especially grateful to be joined by Heather’s sister, Veronica Schroter, who served as a Trustee and introduced Heather to the charity in 1980.  Veronica spoke beautifully, sharing personal memories that resonated deeply with everyone present. I am delighted to share that Veronica has kindly agreed to become one of our Patrons — a fitting continuation of the close and meaningful connection between Heather, her family and our organisation.

As Trustees, we have also carefully considered how best to lead the charity into its next chapter. I am pleased to announce that the Board has appointed a new Leadership Team to replace the Chief Executive role: Gazala Alvi, Director of Fundraising and Finance; Dr Georgina Bell, Director of Therapy and Natalie Burge, Director of Operations. The Board is confident they are the right people to guide the organisation through the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It is because of you that our work - and Heather's vision - continues.

With warmest wishes,

Meg Kaufman
Chair of the Board of Trustees
