Spring 2023

Noticing those positive things

As we notice the longer days and signs of Summer, we can also reflect on the work we do with children and families who face complex challenges. During our therapeutic sessions, we ask clients to notice the positive things in their lives, however small. Once they start looking, they are often surprised by how many they can find. Together we acknowledge what is working well. Then we introduce strategies to help them to build from there. Many clients comment on how refreshing and motivating they find this approach and they start feeling more hopeful. Clients often tell us that before working with us, they felt overwhelmed with despair and shame because they felt criticised and judged.

Your support speaks volumes

Thank you for your continuing interest and support for this work.  We are delighted to have seen so many of you at our recent fundraising events. The funds that you donate via these events underpin our mission as an independent local charity. Thank you.

Warm welcome to our new Chair

We would like to thank Meg Kaufman for taking on the role of new Chair of our Board of Trustees.  Meg is a long standing supporter and has been an active fundraiser and a committed member of the Board for several years.

We would also like to thank Elizabeth Webber for her continued support, including her recent stewardship as Chair.  Elizabeth carefully guided and supported us through the challenges of the pandemic and you can read more about her contribution to WLAC here.

We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated group of volunteers who are so generous with their time, skills and support.

With best wishes

Heather Boxer
Chief Executive
