The 2026 London Marathon

A legendary race through an iconic city

Sunday 30th April marked the 46th London Marathon, and WLAC’s very own Fabulous Four - David, Kate, Naomi and Sofia - took on the incredible challenge legendary race, in aid of us - and what a day it was.

Together, our runners raised over a whopping £10,000 to support children, young people and families across West London, and we are so grateful for every mile run, every training session completed, and every donation collected along the way.

This year’s marathon was truly historic. The 2026 TCS London Marathon officially broke the Guiness World Record for the largest number of finishers in a marathon, with 59,830 runners crossing the finish line. The atmosphere across London reflected exactly that - an extraordinary sense of unity, encouragement and celebration from beginning to end.

Our support team - Gazala, Kate and Suraiya - were stationed just past Mile 11, near Bermondsey Tube Station, ready with whistles, wigs, and all the cheers of encouragement as the runners passed by. Once our four runners had passed by our cheering point, the race was then on for the support team themselves, making a quick dash across London to Horse Guards Parade to meet the runners after the finish line and congratulate them on their incredible achievement.

Marathon day in London is always special, but this year felt particularly unforgettable. From elite athletes making history to thousands of charity runners taking on personal challenges, the city came alive with an overwhelming sense of togetherness and support.

A huge congratulations and heartfelt thank you again to our Fabulous Four. We are so incredibly proud of you all, and so thankful that you chose to run for WLAC. Your support will help us continue providing vital counselling and therapeutic support to children, young people and families who need it most.
