The 2025 London Marathon - Our Magnificent 7 Made It!

Our very own Magnificent Seven - Harry Churchward, Josh Cobb, Ed Heaven, Mohammed Laher, Max Lawson, Charlie Prentis and Peter Stafford - not only ran, but also finished The London Marathon 2025 in aid of West London Action for Children on Sunday 27th April, and collectively raised nearly and incredible £22,000! We are truly in awe and extremely grateful for all their kind efforts.

A big thank you to our support team - Gazala, Georgina, Natalie, Angela and Kate - who were there to cheer them on from the sidelines near Bermondsey Tube Station.

There was much orange-sunglasses-and-wig-wearing, whistle blowing, cheering and flag waving, all whilst trying to capture the moment on camera as our runners passed by Mile 11, before racing across London to meet the finishers (with goodie bags!) in Horse Guards Road to celebrate and congratulate them on their fantastic achievement.

Our Marathon coordinator, Kate Palmer - who also ran the Marathon for WLAC way back in 2016 - volunteered her help with supporting our runners throughout the process, and was tracking their progress on the day, live on the TCS London Marathon app. She has been regularly checking in with during their training process and boosting their fundraising with mentions on social media. Kate said they were an awesome group of runners, who were really supportive of WLAC and had all written thoughtful words on their fundraising pages. They all finished in under 4 hours and 1 minute - a record for WLAC!

One of our runners Peter, shared this message with Kate after the race:

“Just wanted to say thank you for the support today and throughout the campaign. It was lovely to meet you and the team after the run…you’re all so nice! I think I read the annual report before I decided to run for you guys, but it’s nice to have a hard copy - I’ll keep my race number with it, so that I will never forget what this was all about.”

This year set a new Guinness World Record for the number of finishers, as 56,640 runners crossed the line on a beautifully sunny Spring day. London was looking its very best, and spirits and encouragement were at an all-time high, at the world’s largest, annual one-day fundraising event, with more than £1.3 billion pounds raised since 1981, all for charity.

We were so touched that the vests worn by our runners showed that they were running not only for WLAC but also in memory of the wonderful, Heather Boxer - our Chief Executive who very sadly passed away in January this year.
