Celebrating National Volunteers’ Week: Meet Angela Ridgeon

The 2nd to the 8th June 2025 marks National Volunteers’ Week, and we’re celebrating the people who make our work possible.

Across the UK, millions give their time to support others, and at WLAC, we’re proud to have an amazing team of dedicated individuals doing just that.

Volunteering brings huge value - not only to our charity, but also to those who give their time. Studies show that volunteering can boost wellbeing, improve health, and build valuable skills. From students to retirees, our volunteers help us run events, manage admin, and support families across West London.

Volunteer Spotlight: Angela Ridgeon

This week, we’re shining a light on one of our brilliant volunteers, Angela Ridgeon, who joined WLAC in September 2023.

With a background in acting, training, and education, Angela brings energy, warmth, and incredible versatility to our team.

She’s helped with everything from:

  • Admin support and database management

  • Organising and delivering over 90 Holiday Hampers to client families

  • Event coordination – including MC-ing our Lightning Talks series

  • Writing blogs, newsletters, and communications

Angela first heard about WLAC through her friend and fellow volunteer, Isobel Leaviss, and was inspired to get involved.

Her future plans include offering interview and presentation coaching to sixth-form students preparing for the next stage of their journey.

We’re so thankful for Angela and every single person who gives their time to WLAC. Your impact is lasting and deeply appreciated.
