West London Action for Children relies immensely on the help of its volunteers. Without them, we would be unable to hold events, run the office as efficiently as we do and get things done quickly!

Who Volunteers?

All our volunteers are from a range of backgrounds, ages, races and sexes – Students, retired people, working people with a few hours to spare. We always ensure our volunteers are given full training for whatever task they embark on.

Why do they volunteer?

We ask them regularly what motivates them to volunteer. The reasons are numerous.

  • “I have a few hours a week to donate to a good cause”
  • “I wanted to improve my office skills without going back into paid employment”
  • “I have no work experience and this is a great way to learn”
  • “It’s a chance for me to work as part of a team”

How to volunteer?

West London Action for Children has a Volunteer Recruitment procedure. It’s very simple. If you wish to volunteer, simply send your CV or work experience summary to us. We will contact you and invite you in to meet with us. If we are all happy to continue forward, we will ask you to supply 2 references and once they are in, you are ready to volunteer.

What will you do?

As a volunteer, there are many areas that you can get involved with within the charity. We are a small charity and that generally means you will at some point get involved with everything.

The Administrator always needs help around the office with filing, data entry, telephone answering, tidying up, letter writing, donation handling and much more. Volunteers with sound computer skills are always a help to her but even if you don’t have much computer experience, there is always something she can find for you.

The Fundraiser is always looking for people to help her research a variety of things from companies, venues and religious institutes to the cost of hiring tables and chairs.

Our events team always needs hands on deck for the many events they hold throughout the year. If you enjoy getting involved on one off occasions then volunteering your time setting up and helping out at an event is perfect.
