ParenTalk

Parenting Skills for Co-operation & Harmony

ParenTalk is a forward-looking, solution-focused group for parents of children aged 3-11. ParenTalk runs for six sessions every term. The group runs for two hours, from 10am til 12 noon, and we provide coffee, tea and lunch afterwards. The group is open to residents of Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea.. It is open to parents and carers and usually has between six and fourteen members at any one time. To attend the course, the participants must attend the first week and no new participants can join after that.

The aims of ParenTalk are:

To deepen parents' understanding of their children's needs
To provide a safe place for parents to express their thoughts and feelings
To find strategies and approaches to deal with behaviour, using parents' existing skills
To provide mutual support for parents to continue to love and guide their children
To increase confidence in being a parent, and to look to the future with optimism

Topics are keeping calm, setting limits, getting cooperation, encouraging and praising..including the parent
