Action Drama Club | Mighty Me | Cool Moves
Mighty Me is a group for primary age children who have problem saturated stories about their lives. Some of these problems can seriously interfere with the child's life to the point where the child and others around them are finding it sometimes difficult to differentiate the child from the problem. Mighty Me aims to enable children to see the problem as separate to themselves so that they can rediscover alternative (Mighty) stories about themselves and their ways of being in the world. Mighty Me uses a Narrative approach and was developed by Rosie's Place Inc. © in Australia (1999).
Mighty Me aims to enable children to explore the power and influence they could have over the problem in the following ways:
Explores the way the problem operates in the child's life, its activities and the effects of these.
Highlightes the child's influence over the problem to increase the child's sense of competence and personal agency.
Enables the child to see themselves as separate from the problem.
Encourages the child to see themselves as consultants and experts on the problem and how to manage it in order to increase their sense of competence.
Encourages the child to rediscover alternate stories about themselves which challenged those that were problem-saturated.
