Action Drama Club
The action drama Club is for children between 8 and 12 years old who are experiencing difficulties in their lives interacting with others, both at school and within the family for a variety of reasons i.e. experiencing bullying, trauma, abuse, parental separation, family relationship problems etc.
To provide therapeutic input in a non therapeutic environment by using play as a vehicle to understand what children are experiencing in their lives, and use the same media to introduce new and positive perspectives for them to make the changes they want for themselves.
To make plays from characters, ideas and stories that child participants and their carers invent.
To encourage children and carers to express feelings and experiences that otherwise would not be possible to show, in a non judgemental setting. lives so that they get new ideas of what to do different to make the changes they want.
To promote self awareness and space for reflection about how they participate in creating particular situations in their lives so that they get new ideas of what to do different to make the changes they want.
AcTiOn DrAmA would help Children in the following areas:
- Expressing themselves
- Communication skills
- Social skills
- Needing to develop different more positive ideas about self
- Increasing self esteem and confidence
- Expressing themselves
AcTiOn DrAmA would help parents in the following areas:
- To improve their communication skills
- Learn and understand more the language of childhood
- Develop a closer relationship with their child and improve family relationships
How:
- In a drama setting with other parents and children Using story telling, games, drama exercises, circle time and work on characters and roles
- Producing stories and themes to present in an end of term small scale production
- The AcTiOn DrAmA Club will be run by the Drama Therapist Johanna Lewis and Family Therapist Juan Carlos Lema.
- We will provide refreshments at beginning and simple meal at end of sessions and limited crèche.
